Andy Murray has pulled out of the French Open because of a back injury.
Last week the US Open champion was forced to withdraw from the Rome Masters midway through his second-round match against Marcel Granollers.
The Scot revealed soon after that he would have to consider his participation at the year's second Grand Slam, which begins on Sunday, because of the problem.
"It's a really tough decision and I love playing in Paris, but after seeking medical advice, I am not fit to compete," said Murray.
"Apologies to the organisers and thanks to everyone for the messages of support. Now my complete focus is on getting back on the court as soon as possible."
The Roland Garros tournament is Murray's least successful Grand Slam. He has only reached the semi-final stage once, in 2011.
He will now focus on preparing for the grass-court season and home Slam Wimbledon, which begins in just over a month.
