Andy Murray has made it into the second round of the French Open with a four-set victory over Kazakhstan's Andrey Golubev.
The Brit, who is seeded seventh at Roland Garros, was dominant during the opening set as he saw off the erratic world number 53 6-1 with just 34 minutes played.
Golubev put up more of a fight in the second, but Murray was able to break his opponent twice on his way to closing it out 6-4 to seize control of the contest.
However, the tide started to turn after that as an error-strewn set from the Wimbledon champion allowed Golubev to come through 6-3.
While it looked as if Golubev was ready to mount a serious challenge on Murray during the fourth, Murray established a 4-1 lead before sealing his progress 6-1 6-4 3-6 6-3.
The two-time Grand Slam champion will take on Marinko Matosevic in the next round following the Australian's win over Germany's Dustin Brown.
