David Ferrer has made it through to the quarter-finals of the French Open with a four-set triumph over South African Kevin Anderson.
The fifth seed took the opening set 6-3, and he tightened his grip on the contest by sealing the second by the same scoreline.
However, 19th-seed Anderson put up more resistance in the third before clinching it 7-5 in a closely-fought tie-break.
Despite Anderson's resurgence in the previous set, Ferrer was dominant in the fourth as two breaks of serve helped him see out the match 6-1.
Last year's losing finalist will now meet either defending champion Rafael Nadal or Serbian world number 83 Dusan Lajovic for a place in the semi-finals.
