British tennis player Ross Hutchins has revealed that he has been diagnosed with a form of cancer.
Rumours began to circulate regarding 27-year-old Hutchins's health after British number one Andy Murray made an emotional speech as he received the Brisbane International title this morning.
While Murray opted not to reveal who he was talking about, he said: "I'd like to dedicate this victory to one of my best friends back home. You're going to be okay. You're going to get through."
Hutchins has since tweeted: "Happy New Year to all! Unfortunately I will be away from tennis for a while as I was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma.
"I am doing well, very positive with excellent medical support, friends and family around me. Looking forward to being back on the court soon!"
Hutchins and Murray have competed alongside each other for the British Davis Cup team.
