Rafael Nadal has failed in his quest to reach the Qatar Open final by stumbling against Gael Monfils.
The Spaniard dropped to a 6-3 6-4 defeat courtesy of the Frenchman, who carried out a powerful performance against the former world number one.
Nadal started off positively in the first set, appearing to be in control of the match. However, Monfils hit some impressive shots and failed to back down to the 25-year-old and took the first set.
Monfils continued to dominate the match and refused to let the Spaniard put his mark on the contest.
The world number 15 will meet his fellow countryman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final in Doha.
