US Open champion Andy Murray has publicly thanked coach Ivan Lendl following his triumph at Flushing Meadows.
The Scot, who appointed the former world number one in December 2011, earned his first Grand Slam title with a 7-6 7-5 2-6 3-6 6-2 win over Novak Djokovic.
"That was almost a smile [from Lendl]," said Murray, speaking on court after his victory.
"He's one of greatest players ever to play, here he made eight consecutive finals. Having him here supporting me has helped in the tough moments, but not only him, everyone else too.
"They've been there since the start. Thanks very much."
Lendl won eight Grand Slams during his playing career.
