Eighth seed Janko Tipsarevic had to come from two sets down to beat Guillaume Rufin in the first round of the US Open at Flushing Meadows.
The Serbian looked to be heading towards a surprise defeat as the French world number 130 took the opening two sets 6-4 6-3.
However, Tipsarevic got himself back into the contest with a comfortable 6-2 triumph in the third.
He then got back on terms with a 6-3 win in the fourth before completing the turnaround 6-2 in the decider.
Tipsarevic will now meet Brian Baker in the second round following the American's straight-sets win over Jan Hajek.
