Vesna Dolonc is through to the third round at Wimbledon with a 7-5 6-2 victory over Jelena Jankovic.

Jankovic took the first nine points of the match, but it was downhill from there as Dolonc produced some gutsy tennis to take the opening set.

Dolonc improved further in the second set as Jankovic's game fell apart, and the world number 97 dominated from the baseline to book her place in the last 32.

Hello, and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage of the clash between Jelena Jankovic and Vesna Dolonc at Wimbledon.

Well it's certainly been a crazy day at Wimbledon, hasn't it?! The headlines so far are dominated by the number of withdrawals that we have had, but it was more straightforward for Andy Murray who has just progressed through to the third round. Who knows what this match will bring...

We were expecting to see Petra Kvitova in action on court one, but instead, Jelena Jankovic will be facing Vesna Dolonc. Jankovic is the big favourite to progress, but her opponent enjoyed a fine win over Yanina Wickmayer in the first round.

Jankovic is a former world number one, but she comes into this tournament as the number 16 seed. She moved through to the last 64 after defeating Great Britain's Johanna Konta.

The two players are all ready to get going on Court One, and it will be Jelena Jankovic to serve first.

An easy hold of serve to begin with for Jankovic. There is a lacklustre atmosphere out on Court One, with the stadium not even half full.

BREAK! This has been an abysmal start by Dolonc, who immediately gifts her opponent three break points after a string of errors. She plays the next point a lot better, but Jankovic seals the break with a backhand winner down the line.

BREAK! Dolonc goes wide on the opening rally, but she has her first point on the board at the 10th time of asking when Jankovic commits a double fault. That seems to have eased the pressure on the 23-year-old and she forces the error with a deep baseline shot. Another double fault from the former world number one hands Dolonc two break points, and she takes her opportunity when Jankovic goes wide.

Dolonc is all over the place on her serve, and two more unforced errors allow Jankovic to move to 0-30. However, Dolonc hits back to get to 30-30 with a solid drive volley at the net, and she seals the game with an ace.

That's much better from Jankovic, but she receives a bit of luck in moving 30-0 up when her forehand clips the net-cord. She steps into the court to put away a forehand winner, but misses the first of three game points with a wayward shot from the baseline. Her confidence isn't knocked though, and she moves ahead with another winner.

BREAK! The first two points are shared, but I'm afraid that we have another slip, with Jankovic going over after chasing a ball at the back of the court. She seems fine, but that was a worrying moment. She keeps her composure and the confidence in her movement to get to deuce, and takes the break when Dolonc double-faults on break point.

Jankovic is irritated when she makes an error on the first point, but her mood improves when Dolonc goes long three times in succession to hand her two game points. The 23-year-old fights back to deuce after coming out on top in the longest rally of the match, but Jankovic does well to finish off the game, drawing Dolonc into the net before volleying the ball into the open court.

Dolonc is serving to stay in the set, and she looks as though she will be facing 15-30, before successfully challenging a shot on the tramlines. Jankovic regains the point, and eventually brings up deuce with a fierce return of serve. Despite the scoreline, Dolonc is playing some fine tennis, and she keeps in the opening set with a well-executed slice out wide.

BREAK! It's been a mixed display from Jankovic, and she follows suit with an ace after a double fault. It's Dolonc who is having the greater success when a rally surpasses 10 shots, and that helps her fight back to deuce after Jankovic went wide with a forehand on set point. She wastes a second when netting a simple-looking volley at the net, and two points later, she is broken by Dolonc after she sends a forehand several feet over the baseline.

Dolonc looks to be coasting to 5-5 when she takes the first three points of the game, but Jankovic hits back with a superb backhand winner. However, she marginally misses out in taking the game to deuce when she goes wide with a backhand, and Dolonc has recovered the break of serve.

BREAK! Dear oh dear. Jankovic is struggling to keep her anger in check after conceding three break points to her Serbian compatriot, and she is stunned when Dolonc finds the baseline with a backhand. This is somewhat of a shock, because Jankovic was coasting at 5-2.

Dolonc has a spring in her step after moving to 15-0, but she goes for too much on a second serve and double faults. Jankovic then fires a return past the outstretched reach of Dolonc and she is two points away from forcing a tie-break. However, that's super hitting from Dolonc, who drives a winner into the corner, and she has set point after a Jankovic error. She takes her chance at the first time of asking with a kick-serve out wide.

BREAK! Jankovic needs to come out firing at the start of this set, but despite two baseline winners, she makes three unforced errors to hand Dolonc an early break point, which she takes when an irritated Jankovic nets a forehand. Could we be in for another shock on day three?

Jankovic uses her frustration to positive effect in moving to 0-30, but a terrific smash from Dolonc gets her back into the game. Jankovic then goes millimetres long, but she has break point after her opponent suffers the same fate. The next point is a nervous one, but it's Dolonc who strikes with a backhand winner. The 23-year-old holds her nerve to come through the next two points, and the next game is a big one for the former world number one.

Jankovic is certainly animated this evening! All is well at 30-0, but a cross-court winner has the 28-year-old rattled. She then lets out a few choice words in Serbian after taking the next point, but calm is restored when she gets on the board for the second set.

A few mistakes are beginning to creep into Dolonc's game, and two shots into the net hand Jankovic two break points. That's impressive from Dolonc though, who after forcing Jankovic to net, strikes a super drive-volley at the net. Jankovic gets the better of Dolonc after a competitive 24-shot rally, but after the game lasts over 10 minutes, but some fine hitting get Dolonc out of trouble.

It's imperative that Jankovic holds serve here. Her morale would have taken a bit of a kicking after that last game. She responds in aggressive fashion, with a couple of stunning winners from behind the baseline. She needed that.

A voice from the crowd shouts "Come on Jelena!" after a Dolonc mistake, but it does little to inspire the 28-year-old, who nets twice in a row before complaining to her team in the stands. Ouch, that isn't going to help matters, as Jankovic sends backhand long of the baseline after dominating a lengthy exchange.

BREAK! Dolonc is beginning to let loose with her groundstrokes, and two in succession keep Jankovic behind the baseline, and she has 0-30. She strikes again with a cross-court forehand that her opponent nets, and it's three break points. Jankovic saves the first, but that's immense power from Dolonc, who skids a forehand into the corner, and Jankovic goes wide. That could be that.

VESNA DOLONC BEATS JELENA JANKOVIC

It's questionable how much fight Jankovic has left in her after dumping a lazy forehand into the net, but her enthusiasm improves when Dolonc goes long for 15-30. However, she responds with an ace, and she has match point with an excellent forehand winner down the line. She's done it, and Jankovic is out after netting another forehand.

That isn't the biggest surprise of day three, but it's up there. Jankovic came into this tournament in good form, but she has been blitzed by an inspired Vesna Dolonc. Her all-round game was superb, and she deservedly takes her place in the last 32.

That will be all from Sports Mole for this match. If you want to follow Roger Federer's battle with Sergiy Stakhovsky, head over to the live commentary as the match enters a crucial stage in the fourth set. Goodbye for now.
