Nick Kyrgios "really shocked" at Wimbledon reaction

Australian maverick Nick Kyrgios says that he has been "shocked" by the reaction to his controversial showing at Wimbledon this year.

Australian youngster Nick Kyrgios has revealed his shock at some of the reaction he has received following a controversial showing at Wimbledon.

The 20-year-old reached the fourth-round stage at SW19, but his time at the tournament was marred by continued arguments with the on-court umpires.

"I've read a whole lot. Comments like 'he shouldn't be representing Australia', 'he's a disgrace'. It's tough to read. I'm human," said Kyrgios, according to BBC Sport.

"I don't really want them to love me. I don't want their love, but everyone deserves respect.

"I'm just shocked with what's happened. I'm just really shocked on how people have responded and reacted and what they've said. I'm really shocked."

Kyrgios is currently ranked as the 29th best male player in the world.
