Kyle Edmund's first experience of Wimbledon was brought to an early end this afternoon by Jerzy Janowicz, who recorded a 6-2 6-2 6-4 victory over the young Brit in the first round.
Eighteen-year-old Edmund, who gained entry into the tournament via a wildcard, started the contest brightly. However, Janowicz went on to claim a decisive break and he then managed to take the opening set by a four-game margin.
It was a similar outcome during the second set as the Pole started to land a large amount of his first serves in.
Edmund rallied during the third set and managed to get four games of his own on the board, but he was broken early and failed to gain that back as Janowicz held out for the win.
It is not the end of Edmund's campaign at SW19, though, because he has been entered into the junior event.
