World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic knocks fellow Serbian Viktor Troicki out of Wimbledon.

World number one Novak Djokovic won the battle of the Serbians on Centre Court at Wimbledon this evening.

The defending champion dropped just seven games on his way to recording a victory over Serbian compatriot Viktor Troicki.

Both players held their opening service games as the match got off to an even start. However, Djokovic broke at the next time of asking to open up a 3-1 advantage before going on to record a 6-3 success.

The second set was even more straightforward for the 25-year-old, who produced a string of forehand strokes to which Troicki had no answer. Djokovic eventually opened up a two-set lead by serving out for a 6-1 triumph.

Troicki provided more resistance during the early stages of the third set by holding his first two service games. Djokovic soon broke to take a 4-2 lead in the set, before completing his remaining service games for a 6-3 6-1 6-3 win.

Djokovic will now face either Richard Gasquet or Florian Mayer for a place in the semi-finals at SW19.
