China's Zhang Hong has won her country's first ever Olympic gold medal in speed skating after coming first in the women's 1,000m event.
The 25-year-old from Heilongjiang jumped for joy with her teammates after realising that none of the other racers was able to beat her time of 1:14.02.
The podium was completed by Irene Wust and Margot Boer of the Netherlands, who secured times of 1:14.69 and 1:14.90 respectively.
