Tom Daley dismisses recent criticism that he is in danger of becoming more famous for his exploits away from the pool.

Great British diver Tom Daley has responded to recent criticism regarding his lifestyle.

Russian coach Alexei Evangulov claimed that the 17-year-old was in danger of becoming more famous for his exploits out of the pool, rather than his performances in competitions.

However, Daley has insisted that he has no concerns over his ability to be successful.

"I know that I can perform when it matters and I am doing everything in my power to ensure I have the best chance of success. This is my priority," Daley said in a statement. "I am going to continue to learn and work hard and I am fully committed to being the best diver I can be.

"My dad always taught me to do my best. I can't control what other people do.

"I can just focus on my own performance, with the support and advice of my coaching team. That alone will determine if I deserve a medal. That alone will determine the result."

Daley finished seventh alongside Peter Waterfield in the final of the 10m platform synchronised event at the World Cup event at London's Olympic Aquatic centre last Thursday.
