AC Milan confirm that Stephan El Shaarawy will need to rest for up to three weeks, after suffering a foot injury against Ajax.

AC Milan have confirmed that Stephan El Shaarawy will be out for three weeks with an injury to his left foot.

The 21-year-old went off injured during the first half of their goalless draw with Ajax in the Champions League and will not play again until the New Year.

A statement on AC Milan's official website said: "During the match against Ajax, Stephen El Shaarawy suffered a pain in his left foot. He will need a period of rest of about two or three weeks."

El Shaarawy joined Milan in 2011 from Genoa.
