Former Premier League official Dermot Gallagher has dismissed suggestions that Fernandinho should have been given a second yellow card in the EFL Cup final.
After already been booked in the first half, Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere claimed that the Manchester City man should have been cautioned for the second time in quick succession for a foul around 30 yards from goal.
However, while acknowledging that Wilshere may have needed to move out of the way of the tackle, Gallagher has said that Fernandinho's challenge was not worthy of a booking.
Gallagher told Sky Sports News: "It's certainly not a second yellow card. Even if Fernandinho hadn't been on a yellow, he wouldn't have been yellow carded for that.
"Jack Wilshere may say that he has got to evade the challenge - I accept that - but it's not a foul or worthy of a yellow card."
City went on to record a 3-0 victory at Wembley Stadium.
