Arsene Wenger wary of Stoke City shock

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that his side must match their recent performance against Liverpool if they are to beat Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has warned his players that they must match the "intensity" and "desire" that they showed against Liverpool when they visit Stoke City on Sunday.

The Gunners twice came from behind in a thrilling contest at Anfield on Wednesday before themselves conceding a late equaliser as the two sides played out a 3-3 draw.

Arsenal have a poor record at the Britannia Stadium, winning just once there in the Premier League era, and Wenger is not expecting an easier ride this time.

"It's a similar test to Liverpool. On our side, we'll need the same intensity again, four days later, and the same desire and focus," Wenger told reporters.

"What we learn in this Premier League is that every week you think 'look how many surprises we have seen today, that will not happen again'. And the week after, it happens again and again and again, since the start of the season.

"That shows you that the consistency of your focus, the consistency of your determination will certainly play a big part in the outcome of this league."

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League on goal difference but could find themselves third by the time they play Stoke, with Leicester City and Manchester City both in action on Saturday.
