Santi Cazorla: 'Arsenal must improve defence'

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla believes that the team must improve their defence in order to challenge for the Premier League title.

Santi Cazorla has insisted that Arsenal need to work on their defending in order to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

The Gunners finished third in the table, 12 points behind champions Chelsea, having scored just two goals fewer than Jose Mourinho's side who had four more clean sheets.

The midfielder told the London Evening Standard: "One of the key areas we have to focus on next season is being a very strong defensive team. If we have got those things under control our offence is already good enough.

"We need to make sure that the positioning of our backline is strong and always stays that way. Last season we lost so many points against small teams at home, and if we want to win the league we can't lose those points."

Cazorla made 53 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal last season, scoring eight goals.
