Jose Mourinho reportedly dined with Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi last week amid speculation that the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss could replace Unai Emery as head coach.
Saturday's 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers is believed to have piled the pressure on Emery, who has struggled to convince since arriving at the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2018.
Mourinho - out of work since leaving United last December - is said to be interested in becoming Arsenal's new head coach as he wants to enjoy success with another English club.
According to The Times, Mourinho impressed Sanllehi with his plans for the squad when they dined together, fuelling suggestions that a change at the helm is imminent.
The Portuguese has been working as a pundit since the start of the 2019-20 campaign but has revealed on a number of occasions that he is keen to return to management.
Arsenal are next in action away to Vitoria Guimaraes in the Europa League on Wednesday night before travelling to high-flying Leicester City in the Premier League next weekend.
