Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has claimed that the next England manager should be English.
Fabio Capello resigned as the national team manager on Wednesday after a dispute over the dismissal of John Terry as captain.
Stuart Pearce was confirmed by the FA as the interim manager and Wenger has urged the FA to appoint an English manager.
Wenger said: "I have always been straight in my view.
"Not because I think an English manager can do a better job than any foreign guy, just because you represent your country and it is better if the manager is from there. Especially in a big football country like England."
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp is currently favourite to replace Capello.
