Arsenal are allegedly contemplating making an offer for Ajax defender Daley Blind in the summer as Mikel Arteta bids to strengthen his backline.

Ajax defender Daley Blind has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Arsenal.

After a mixed spell at Manchester United, Blind has enjoyed a productive 19 months back at Ajax, helping the club reach last season's Champions League semi-finals.

According to The Athletic, the resurgence of the 29-year-old has resulted in interest from the Gunners.

The report claims that Mikel Arteta is an admirer of the Netherlands international's versatility - attributes which would help Arsenal in defence and midfield.

Blind allegedly possesses a small release clause in his contract, which will prove attractive to Arsenal after a significant financial outlay over the past eight months.

The North London outfit are unlikely to be the only team to attempt to sign Blind should he be open to leaving his boyhood club.
