Arsenal reportedly make an approach for Porto winger Pepe ahead of a potential summer transfer.

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Porto winger Pepe over a potential summer move.

The Gunners have a wealth of attacking options in their squad, which was on display in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Liverpool, where Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Jesus both found the net.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has tended to utilise Bukayo Saka, Martinelli and Jesus as his preferred front three this season.

The likes of Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Leandro Trossard have also played important roles for the Gunners in their title bid.

Despite being the second-highest scorers in the Premier League this season, Arsenal are still determined to strengthen in the final third ahead of the 2023-24 campaign.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, Pepe has emerged as a target for the Gunners, and they have made contact over a possible transfer.

The 26-year-old is under contract until June 2027, but he supposedly has a €75m (£66m) release clause in his deal.

The report goes on to state that Porto are looking to raise funds, which could play into Arsenal's hands should they decide to pursue a transfer

Arsenal could face competition for Pepe though, with clubs in France and Spain believed to be monitoring the situation.

Pepe has featured regularly in Sergio Conceicao's side this season, registering five goals and nine assists in 45 games across all competitions.

In total, the Brazilian has scored 11 goals and provided 15 assists in 87 competitive appearances for the Portuguese club.

Arsenal are also believed to be considering other attacking players, with Bayer Leverkusen's Moussa Diaby and Villarreal's Samuel Chukwueze reportedly on their radar.

After giving up a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Liverpool at Anfield, Arsenal's gap over Manchester City at the top of the table has been cut to six points.
