Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur to battle for £22m Sander Berge?

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur reportedly join Aston Villa in the race to sign Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge.

North London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined Aston Villa in the race to sign Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge.

The Norwegian international is expected to leave Bramall Lane this summer with the Blades' impending relegation from the Premier League.

Website Jeunes Footeux claim that Berge will be allowed to leave Chris Wilder's side if another club are willing to pay a fee close to the £22m that was spent by the Blades on the midfielder in January 2020.

Both Arsenal and Spurs are understood to be interested in Berge, while Villa see the player as good replacement for Ross Barkley, who is set to return to his parent club Chelsea at the end of this season.

However, with the emergence of Jacob Ramsey and the January arrival of Morgan Sanson, manager Dean Smith may feel he already has enough options in the central midfield position.

Berge produced a number of eye-catching performances during the second half of last season, however this campaign he has struggled with a hamstring injury which required surgery and has not featured for the Blades since December.
