Arsenal are reportedly planning to submit a bid of £53m for Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric this summer.
The 32-year-old is thought to be one of a number of Madrid players who will be allowed to leave at the end of this season following a disappointing campaign that has seen them fall 15 points off the pace of Barcelona in La Liga.
According to Don Balon, the Gunners believe that the Croatian could provide some "crucial quality and experience" as they look to bounce back from their own underwhelming campaign.
The newspaper says that Arsene Wenger's side think that an offer in the region of £53m may get the deal done, although they will apparently face competition from AC Milan, Juventus, Liverpool and his former side Tottenham Hotspur.
Modric, meanwhile, is said to be keen on a return to London and also believes that the time is right for one last big move before his playing career ends.
During his five-and-a-half years in the Spanish capital, Modric has won the Champions League three times and one La Liga title.
