Arsenal must fork out close to £60m to secure the signature of Real Sociedad's Alexander Isak next year, according to a report.

Arsenal will reportedly have to fork out £60m to sign Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak next summer.

The 22-year-old caught the eye for Sweden at Euro 2020 and was linked with moves to a host of top European clubs during the most recent transfer window.

However, Isak instead elected to pen a new five-year contract with Sociedad until the summer of 2026, and the deal includes a €70 million (£59.8m) release clause.

According to AS, Sociedad are not prepared to lower their demands for Isak, meaning that Arsenal will have to fork out the entirety of his release clause should they wish to sign him in 2022.

The Gunners are expected to be in the market for a new striker next summer as Alexandre Lacazette runs down his deal, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's contract expires in 2023.

Isak struck 17 goals in 34 La Liga games last term but is yet to get off the mark in five appearances during the new domestic season, netting only once in the Europa League.
