Paris Saint-Germain 'view Samuel Umtiti as Thiago Silva replacement'

Paris Saint-Germain reportedly view Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti as a potential replacement for Thiago Silva.

Paris Saint-Germain could reportedly move for Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti this summer as a replacement for the long-serving Thiago Silva.

The French champions have still not extended Silva's contract, meaning that as it stands, the Brazilian will be a free agent at the end of June.

According to Sport, Thomas Tuchel's side are currently putting plans in place to replace the veteran defender, and Umtiti is viewed as a target ahead of this summer's transfer window.

The France international joined Barca from Lyon in 2016 and made 83 appearances during his first two seasons at the club, quickly becoming an important player for the Catalan giants.

A knee issue restricted the centre-back to just 15 appearances last term, though, while he has only featured on 11 occasions in La Liga this season due to injury.

Arsenal and Chelsea have also previously been credited with an interest in the 2018 World Cup winner.
