Aston Villa boss Remi Garde pleased with "momentum" following FA Cup result

Aston Villa boss Remi Garde is hopeful that his team can go on a run of wins following their victory over Wycombe in their FA Cup third-round replay.

Aston Villa manager Remi Garde has claimed that his team have a bit of "momentum" after booking their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Tuesday evening.

The Midlands outfit extended their unbeaten run to four games when they sealed a late 2-0 victory over Wycombe Wanderers in their third-round replay at Villa Park.

The team remain at the bottom of the Premier League table, 10 points adrift of safety, but Garde is hopeful that the team can go on a run of results.

"The most important thing was to win and go through," Garde told BBC Radio 5 live. "We've been professional, it was not always easy. That is the fourth game in a row we are not losing, which is very good for momentum.

"I have to congratulate Wycombe - over the two games they gave us some tough moments. I was not happy about the performance in the first half. We could have been more accurate with the passing, the runs, everything. But they gave me the right answers in the second 45 minutes.

"With the run we are on currently, we're very hopeful for the rest of the season."

Villa's next game is against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Saturday.
