Aston Villa are concerned that their striker Wesley is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury that he picked in Wednesday's win over Burnley.

Aston Villa are concerned that their striker Wesley will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The Brazilian opened the scoring in their 2-1 win over Burnley before going off in the 71st minute after being injured in a tackle with Ben Mee.

The 23-year-old, who joined from Club Brugge last summer, had started every league game for Villa this season, scoring five goals and registering one assist.

Although Wesley is due to have a number of scans on Thursday, the club believe that he has suffered cruciate ligament damage.

Villa are currently one place and one point above the relegation zone with 17 games of the season remaining.
