Aston Villa captain Ron Vlaar has paid tribute to the impact made by striker Christian Benteke in his debut season at the club.
The Belgian international netted a second-half hat-trick on Monday night to help the Villans to a 6-1 win over Sunderland at Villa Park, moving the club five points clear of the relegation zone.
Vlaar, who scored the game's opener, believes that the 22-year-old is crucial to the side.
"I don't think I have to say what he's done for us this season," Vlaar told Sky Sports News.
"He's scored so many goals, he's so strong, and we can always give the ball to him. He's very important to us."
Benteke has now scored 22 goals in all competitions for Villa this season.
