Aston Villa have beaten Portland Timbers 5-4 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Jeld-Wen Field.
Ciaran Clark gave Villa the lead in the first half thanks to a header from a Barry Bannan cross.
Sebastian Rincon equalised for the hosts after the break, before Matt Lowton restored Villa's lead.
Portland hit back once more through Rodney Wallace just one minute later and the match went to penalties.
Brad Guzan was the hero of the hour when he saved Bright Dike's spot kick, which gave Samir Carruthers the chance to seal the victory.
