Aston Villa are reportedly contemplating whether to make an approach for Bologna defender Aaron Hickey during one of the upcoming transfer windows.

Aston Villa have reportedly identified Bologna defender Aaron Hickey as a potential transfer target.

Matt Targett has cemented himself as first-choice left-back with Ashley Young and Kortney Hause offering an alternative option.

However, according to The Sun, Villa are ready to make an approach for Scottish younger Hickey during one of the upcoming transfer windows.

Having initially made a name for himself at Hearts, the 19-year-old has since established himself at Serie A outfit Bologna.

The prospect has already contributed two goals from eight starts this season, adding to his 10 outings in Italy's top flight during the last campaign.

Bologna have previously insisted that Hickey, who has a contract until 2024, will remain unavailable for transfer for the foreseeable future.
