Diego Simeone predicting tough Valencia battle

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone calls on his side to remain focused ahead of Tuesday's last-16 Copa del Rey clash with Valencia.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has played down suggestions that his side are the favourites to advance into the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey on Tuesday evening.

Simeone's side welcome Valencia to the Vicente Calderon for the second leg of their last-16 clash with the score level at 1-1 from the first leg.

Atletico are unbeaten on their own patch this season, but Simeone has insisted that there is "a 50% chance for each side" in Madrid.

"They (Valencia) need to make their mark. I imagine a game where they will try to play as they did in the closing stages in Valencia, their last minutes were very good," he told reporters at a press conference.

"We will adapt to gameplay situations that we have seen because they have a great squad and it will be a difficult match with a 50% chance for each side."

Atletico are the current holders of the Copa del Rey as they beat Real Madrid in the final last season.
