Atletico Madrid confirm grade two hamstring injury for Miranda

Atletico Madrid confirm that Miranda is set for a spell on the sidelines with a grade two hamstring injury.

Atletico Madrid have confirmed that Miranda suffered a grade two hamstring injury while on international duty earlier this week.

Miranda was forced off in the first half of Brazil's 2-1 win over Austria on Tuesday with the problem, but Atletico have refused to set a date for the defender's return to action.

"Miranda has undergone an MRI early this afternoon at the Fremap Clinic in Majadahonda to confirm the severity of the injury he sustained during the Austria-Brazil match that resulted in him being substituted on the 28th minute," a statement on the club's official website revealed.

"The medical report says that Miranda suffers a grade two muscle injury to the hamstring on the back of his left thigh. This injury requires physical therapy and rest from sport activities until next week, when he can start an alternative training."

Atletico meet Malaga in La Liga on Saturday, before hosting Olympiacos in the Champions League next Wednesday.
