Raul Garcia praises Atletico Madrid's "identity"

Atletico Madrid midfielder Raul Garcia believes that the "identity" of the club has helped them become a force in European football.

Raul Garcia believes that Atletico Madrid's "identity" has helped them become a major force in European football.

The capital outfit won their first La Liga title since 1996 last term, while Diego Simeone also led his side into the final of the Champions League.

Garcia, who scored 18 times during the 2013-14 campaign, has also claimed that every Atletico fan "can identify" with the team's style.

"There are changes every year, we're getting better and each season we're achieving even more important things," he told his club's official website.

"Most importantly though, we've created a solid block and an identity. Right now, every Atlético fan can identify with our way of playing, the way we feel and see ourselves wearing this shirt."

Despite initially moving to Atletico as a holding midfielder, Garcia was regularly deployed in a forward position last season.
