Diego Simeone rules himself out of Everton running

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone reiterates that he has no intention of quitting the club before his recently-signed contract expires, amid links to the Everton job.

Diego Simeone has insisted that he has no interest in taking on the vacant Everton manager's job as he instead intends to see through the remainder of his Atletico Madrid contract.

Ambitious Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri has reportedly placed the 47-year-old at the top of his list of targets to replace Ronald Koeman at Goodison Park.

Having only put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension in September, however, the former River Plate boss - who has won the Europa League, Copa del Rey and La Liga during his time at the club - intends to remain in the Spanish capital until 2019 at the earliest.

"I have read about it. I have said it many times - my future is linked to this club," he told reporters. "They will have to put up with me for at least two more years!"

Despite a mixed set of results so far this season, Simeone has been backed by club president Enrique Cerezo to stay at the Wanda Metropolitano helm.
