Toby Alderweireld unsure if he will stay at Southampton permanently

Toby Alderweireld expresses a desire to stay at Southampton beyond his loan move, but admits that he is unsure if the club want to keep him.

Toby Alderweireld has admitted that he is unsure if he will be a Southampton player next season.

The defender, who has been on loan from Atletico Madrid this season, has claimed that he wants to stay at St Mary's but is open to returning to Spain if needs be.

"Southampton are in a good position because I know the club," Alderweireld told BBC Radio Solent. "They are very good to me.

"I did a great job for them as well so we have a good connection. I really like the Premier League. If Atletico want me back, I have to listen. I can't give the answer, I really don't know."

Southampton are currently seventh in the Premier League table, but they have won just once in their last six games.
