Thomas Vermaelen ready for Barcelona debut

Barcelona defender Thomas Vermaelen is available to make his debut after battling injuries over the last nine months.

Thomas Vermaelen has been given the all-clear to finally make his Barcelona debut after a nine-month battle with injuries.

The Belgian was believed to be suffering from a hamstring injury when he completed his move from Arsenal last summer, and a number of setbacks have prevented him from playing a part in Luis Enrique's plans this season.

An operation was required in to repair the problem in December and he will now be available for the closing stages of the season as Barcelona push for the treble.

"Five months after suffering an injury in his right hamstring, the Belgian player Thomas Vermaelen has been given the medical all-clear," a club statement confirmed on Sunday.

Barcelona return to action against Getafe on Tuesday evening.
