Josep Maria Bartomeu: 'Luis Enrique to stay at Barcelona'

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu insists that he is "very happy" with Luis Enrique after his side booked their place in the last four of the Champions League.

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has insisted that Luis Enrique's job at the club is safe following their progression to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Enrique's position had come under heavy scrutiny around the turn of the year following a slight dip in form and reports of a bust-up with talisman Lionel Messi.

However, the Catalan giants have recovered to move top of La Liga in addition to reaching the final of the Copa del Rey and the last four of the Champions League, putting them well on course to clinch the treble.

"We would like him to continue. We have no doubt that he will remain at the club, more so, because he is under contract," Bartomeu told Spanish TV station Teledeporte.

"We are very happy with Luis Enrique. We are continuously improving."

Enrique's win percentage at Barcelona currently stands at 84%, with 42 victories from his opening 50 games. His side are next in action on Saturday when they face local rivals Espanyol.
