President Josep Maria Bartomeu has admitted that he is not happy with Neymar's decision to leave Barcelona, but insists that "no player is bigger" than the club.
The Brazil international completed a shock switch to Paris Saint-Germain last Thursday after his €222m (£198.6) release clause was triggered, making him the most expensive player of all time.
Bartomeu was eager to keep Neymar at Camp Nou regardless of the money offered by PSG, but says that the windfall will now go towards bringing in some new recruits before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
"He wanted to leave," Bartomeu told reporters. "We didn't agree with that decision but no player is bigger than Barca. The €222m that we received for Neymar Jr will be administered with prudence, rigour and serenity.
"People admire us as a club. Lionel Messi, the best player ever, shall continue to lead this team."
Neymar, who is under contract with PSG for the next five years, scored 105 goals in 186 appearances for Barcelona.
