Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi says that he wants to retire at Camp Nou and finish his career as a one-club man.

Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi has said that he wants to stay at the club until the end of his career.

The 29-year-old joined Barca as a youth player in 2001 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the best footballers of all time, becoming the club's all-time leading goalscorer with 507 goals in 583 appearances.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has been the subject of speculative transfer rumours in the past, but he confirmed that his desire is to retire at the Camp Nou.

"It's what I always dreamed and what I always wanted. I would like to finish my career at Barca," he told ESPN.

"Whenever I compete I do so to win and I give everything in order to get the best results. In this regard, this season I felt like I did in previous years.

"[This season I] would have liked to achieve more things, like being in the Champions League final and win the league, but it was not to be."

Messi has won 30 trophies during his time at Barcelona, making him one of the most decorated footballers of all time.
