Bayern Munich confirm Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg undergoing Southampton medical

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge confirms that Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is undergoing a medical at Southampton today.

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has confirmed that midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is due to undergo a medical at Southampton today.

The 20-year-old, who spent last season on loan at Schalke 04, has been linked to the Premier League club in recent weeks.

Hojbjerg made his senior debut for Bayern in 2013, but racked up just 22 appearances in all competitions as he failed to secure a regular spot in the first team.

Today, Rummenigge told reporters that the Danish midfielder is due to have medical tests ahead of a proposed transfer to St Mary's.

Southampton, who have new manager Claude Puel in place following Ronald Koeman's move to Everton, have made one summer signing so far - Nathan Redmond from Norwich City.
