Harry Redknapp is alleged to have aimed a "parting shot" at the Birmingham City players before his departure from the club yesterday.
The 70-year-old was given his marching orders last night after a disastrous start to the season which had seen the side pick up one win in eight Championship games and lose their last six matches in a row.
The most recent defeat, a 3-1 home loss to Preston North End, proved to be Redknapp's last in charge, and after the final whistle the manager is said to have predicted his fate in the dressing room.
"I won't be here next week," he said, according to The Sun. "It's been a pleasure to work with half of you."
In an interview following his dismissal, Redknapp insisted that he is not "bitter" about being sacked and wished the club well for the future.
