Gary Rowett: 'Birmingham City need stronger mentality'

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett says that the team needs to have a stronger mentality following their 4-2 Championship loss to Bournemouth.

Gary Rowett has said that Birmingham City need to have a stronger mentality following their 4-2 Championship loss to Bournemouth.

The Blues went two goals up within 21 minutes before Bournemouth scored four to move to the top of the Championship table.

"We have got to be a little bit stronger in terms of our mentality and make sure we see the half out, you can't work that hard to get 2-0 up and then come in at half time at 2-2," Rowett told the Birmingham Mail.

"It's partly down to our mentality and partly down to the fact Bournemouth have got some terrific players and they attack with such great pace and speed.

"That's the two sides to our team at the moment. We have got so much ability and belief in what we are doing, we go 2-0 up but we just haven't quite got the mentality to see the game out."

Birmingham will continue their Championship campaign against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
