Jordan Rhodes has set his Blackburn Rovers teammates the target of collecting some positive results during the festive period.
Despite being down in 15th in the Championship, Rovers are only six points away from a place in the top six.
With the club aiming to gain promotion back to the Premier League, Scottish striker Rhodes feels that the matches over Christmas could help to shape his team's season.
"It is an important Christmas period coming up and going into the New Year it would be nice to pick up a head of steam coming into the playoff time," Rhodes told the Lancashire Evening Telegraph.
"There are a lot of points on offer in a very short space of time. It has to be up to us to be on our toes, on our best physical game and to try and do the best we can.
"The games are coming thick and fast and that is a good chance for us. We have to have the mentality that there are a lot of points up for grabs and that is a good chance for us to turn it round."
On Saturday Blackburn will play host to Brighton & Hove Albion.
