Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs. Sheffield Wednesday

Sports Mole previews the Boxing Day meeting of Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship.

Blackburn Rovers can cement their place in the top half of the Championship when lowly Sheffield Wednesday visit Ewood Park on Boxing Day.

Gary Bowyer's side go into the match with just one loss in their last six and on the back of two successive victories over Millwall and Yeovil Town.

Bowyer didn't risk Joshua King at the weekend against Yeovil but should have the Norwegian youngster available again. He could go straight into the starting lineup, with veteran David Dunn the most likely to earn a rest.

Visiting Wednesday are expected to make a couple of changes to the side that was beaten by Bournemouth on Saturday.

Striker Atdhe Nuhiu injured his shoulder against the Cherries but fortunately for caretaker manager Stuart Gray, prolific loanee Connor Wickham will return from a hamstring problem. In defence, Glenn Loovens should be fit again for selection after suffering back problems.

When these two sides last met in April, Wednesday edged out Rovers 3-2 at Hillsborough.
