Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe has backed new signing Sylvain Distin to play a big role on and off the pitch for the club next season.
The 37-year-old defender has joined the Premier League newcomers on a one-year contract after being released by Everton.
Howe believes that the Frenchman's experience will be valuable to the Cherries as they attempt to make an impact in the top flight.
"Off the pitch, he is someone the younger players can turn to in times when they need to speak to someone who has seen it and done it," he told the club's official website.
"Sylvain now takes on that role and on the pitch I still think he has a huge amount to offer. He still has his athleticism and is technically very good. We are very pleased to have him."
Bournemouth get their pre-season campaign underway on July 15 when they face Philadelphia Union in the USA.
