Bournemouth defender Simon Francis signs a fresh three-year deal with the club.

Bournemouth defender Simon Francis has signed a fresh three-year deal with the club.

The 28-year-old, who moved to the Championship side from Charlton Athletic in 2011, has agreed a contract that will keep him at Dean Court until 2016.

He told the Bournemouth Daily Echo: "We've been having talks for a while now but it can be hard to get things sorted when you're away from the ground and people go on holiday.

"It is never an overnight thing and a lot of stuff goes back and forth, but the club always knew I wanted to be a part of things moving forward and it was all pretty easy in the end.

"Of course, getting your future sorted is something you look for. It was always in the back of my mind with a year left, as long as we were doing well, to ask to stay."

Francis made 48 appearances for Bournemouth last season.
