Brighton & Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed is handed a three-match ban by the FA following a stamp on DeAndre Yedlin during his side's clash with Newcastle.

Brighton & Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed has been handed a three-match ban by the FA for violent conduct.

The 30-year-old was charged following an incident in the 88th minute of his side's Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Sunday.

Hemed appeared to stamp on the leg of Newcastle defender DeAndre Yedlin, although his action went unseen and unpunished by the officials at the time.

The Israel international appealed the charge, but an FA panel have rejected that appeal and Hemed will now miss matches against Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United.

"Brighton & Hove Albion striker Tomer Hemed will serve a three-match suspension after The FA upheld a charge of violent conduct," read a statement on the club's official website.

"Hemed appealed the charge, but an FA panel rejected the appeal, meaning Hemed will sit out games against Arsenal, Everton and West Ham United.

"The club will be making no further comment at this stage."

Hemed scored the winner against Newcastle at the Amex Stadium, handing Brighton their second victory of the season.
