Rayo Vallecano earn away win

Goals from Jonathan Viera and Joaquin Larrivey help Rayo Vallecano inflict a 2-0 defeat on Celta Vigo in La Liga.

Rayo Vallecano have climbed out of the La Liga relegation zone for the time being with a 2-0 away victory over Celta Vigo.

The Madrid outfit broke the deadlock in the 24th minute through Jonathan Viera, who collected a pass from Tito and slotted home into the bottom corner.

Paco Jemez's side had three good chances to double their advantage before the break, but Saul, Alejandro Galvez and Lass all failed at the final hurdle.

The visitors' pressure eventually paid off in the 72nd minute when Joaquin Larrivey headed in Adrian Embarba's cross from close range.

The win moves Rayo a point above 18th-placed Real Valladolid until Sunday at least, while Celta are a point above them in 15th.
