Andre Villas-Boas bemoans "disastrous week"

Andre Villas-Boas sayd Chelsea must bounce back from a "disastrous week" when they face Genk tonight.

Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has bemoaned a "disastrous week" after suffering defeats to Queens Park Rangers and Arsenal.

Chelsea take on Genk tonight in the Champions League and Villas-Boas has demanded an improvement on the team's current form.

"You have to be frank and say that our progress was stopped in a disastrous week for us in terms of results. But that doesn't mean it has all gone to ruins and the whole castle has fallen down," Villas-Boas said.

"Of course, back-to-back defeats by QPR and Arsenal take their toll in terms of the league table but what we're building is still right. We're on the right track and our philosophy is correct. I'll never change that.

"The team have been punished in the last week but we're not running away from our mistakes and now it's for us to take up the challenge."

Villas-Boas also denied reports from earlier this week that he launched a scathing attack on his players in a team meeting after the Arsenal defeat.

"It's not my leadership style to shout at players," he said. "There was no rant or extra work.

"There was a conversation, as there is after every game. But after a defeat like this, a player's own reflection is the important thing."

Chelsea currently lead Champions League Group E with seven points from three games.
