The trustees of Chelsea's charitable foundation are yet to agree to Roman Abramovich's proposal to take control of the club for the foreseeable future.

The trustees of Chelsea's charitable foundation are reportedly still considering whether to take control of the Premier League giants for the foreseeable future.

On Saturday, owner Roman Abramovich released a statement to say that he was 'relinquishing stewardship' of Chelsea, a consequence of Russia's military invasion of Ukraine.

The move has seemingly been made due to the threat of Abramovich's assets either being frozen or seized by the government, with the Blues allegedly denying that they will be put up for sale.

However, according to BBC Sport, the trustees of Chelsea's charitable foundation are yet to agree to Abramovich's proposal.

The reports claims that there are concerns over their capabilities to run the club, while there is expected to be a delay until lawyers have determined whether it is realistic for the trustees to step into the breach at short notice.

Abramovich's move came less than 24 hours before Sunday's EFL Cup final with Liverpool, a game which the West Londoners lost in a penalty shootout.
